BBC Wales – Bobinogs

Bobinogs – created specially for the children of Wales – appeared on BBC Two Wales. The ten-part weekly series was the first-ever BBC Wales programme in English specifically aimed at children below school age. The three animated characters – Oggy, Bobbin and Nib – live in a bobble hat in a schoolboy’s bedroom.

When he’s around they keep quiet and still, but once he leaves the room they spring to life, singing, dancing and discovering the ways of the real world.

They tackle everyday situations such as making friends, conquering nerves and even asking to go to the toilet. The characters were designed by Cardiff-based animation specialists Siriol – who created popular children’s series Superted, Sali Mali and Fireman Sam. Using the assets supplied by Siriol, my task was to compose website layouts and grahic elements to accompany the series that would enable users to play games, send e-cards and a jukebox that gave children the chance to sing along. These layouts were then passed to the development and coding team whilst I was on contract to BBC Wales.
